What would you like to promote on the global stage
The development of products from Thai herbs stems from recognizing their potential, which can be transformed into tangible added value. Thai herbs have long been a part of the country’s heritage. If their potential is efficiently utilized, it can stimulate the national economy and align with the government’s “Herbal Champions” policy to systematically promote Thai herbs.
The development process can cover the entire value chain: upstream, midstream, and downstream. Upstream involves farmers who grow herbs in Thailand’s tropical climate. Traditionally, herbs were exported as raw materials. However, by controlling cultivation quality to ensure high levels of active ingredients, midstream manufacturers can produce standardized finished products. These can then reach downstream markets, including hospitals, consumers, and international exports.
For example, traditional herbal inhalers, containing active compounds like menthol, camphor, and essential oils, have long been used in daily life. Applying pharmaceutical knowledge to select raw materials, control active ingredients, ensure formula stability, and standardize packaging can elevate them into high-value health products competitive globally.
Similarly, herbal compresses, widely recognized internationally in spa and alternative medicine industries, can benefit from improved product stability, quality control, and transport suitability. Applying pharmaceutical principles ensures Thai herbs become standardized, safe, and globally accepted, supporting local communities, creating economic opportunities, and achieving a true Local-to-Global impact.
